"My bees and I are artisans! They with their exacting efforts to produce the best (and most beautiful) honey and I with an ongoing challenge to myself to learn new and different basket weaving materials, patterns and techniques.
In the age of mass consumption of mass produced goods, there is a happy reward in handcrafting an item that is unique, artistic, and useful. Basket weaving has a history and tradition that reaches back through nationalities and history offering me infinite opportunity to grow as an artisan. Currently, I am studying Native American styles. But whimsy sometimes takes hold and my “rock weaving” appears.
A basket maker for over 30 years (and still learning), I enjoy working with reed, native plant material and even paper to create items that are sturdy, functional and visually pleasing. My industrious bees and I, it seems, never tire of the creative, artistic process."
